  • California - impossible law still constitutional

The fact that a law is impossible to comply with doesn't make it unconstitutional according to the California State Supreme Court. They were referring to a law requiring all new firearms to micro-stamp fired cartridges with the make, model and serial number of the firearm.

The fact that this technology does not exist doesn't invalidate the law.

in 1985 California quietly tried to pass a law outlawing phased plasma rifles, (yes the one from terminator) someone caught wind of this and said how can you pass a law preemptively for something that may or may not exist in the future it was dropped as quietly as it was snuck in...

apparently they worked around it it seems, I REALLY hope the next SCOTUS judge is high pro 2a....

Commiefornia believes the Constitution is optional, I can’t wait for fall when the righteous fist of the Supreme Court will come down on the heads of the tyrants.

To them the Constitution is optional, unless it serves them.

Let's admit that, one day, someone passes a law that removes freedom of speech specifically to the people of California, in other words no more 1a for California. they would most probably come out to defend their constitutional rights.

Rights for me, but not for thee.

a living document, not some old laws we all have to obey, so that the current tyrant/system can get things done without being bothered by those they rule... No thanks.

Commiefornia is getting worse and worse, and we in other western US state are unfortunately getting an influx of lots of the fleeing from there. Luckily, most of the ones coming here are the good ones.

The guy who created Carl's Junior is a good Californian.

But apart from that... LA and SF both smell like piss and other feces... too bad the libs and dems are not addressing the issue of drug addicts, homelessness and slums.

                      Ah Market Street.

Yup... From Van Ness to, let's say Turk Street, it's a pretty "uncomfortable" area.

You’re just too uncultured to appreciate edgy performance art.

Not surprising. The cost of living in CA is ridiculously high. The traffic in LA and San Fran is horrendous.

Once great cities and still are to a degree but rapidly deteriorating. Those who aren’t leaving CA at least move to its more rural areas.

But can't you match a cartridge to a firearm even without any micro stamps?

yes, that's actually pretty simple, the whole idea of microstamping is that now the shell can be traced to the owner of the weapon

here's the problem with that technology, weapons factories don't have that sort of cash to custom every bolt on every weapon, it's not like a printing press, and when you get into .22 rimfire there's literally nowhere to make a stamp, think of trying to paint bumper numbers on a 1/285th scale jeep, now let's take it one step further and try to engrave those numbers.

now lets make matters worse even if it COULD be done any dingbat with a dremel could clear off those numbers or just as easy police his brass depending on the situation

microstamping is a Hollywood fantasy just like the California Government, up until 1977 the state was fine, then dumbshit happened....
