'EVERY CHILD WHO KNOWS A FEW LETTERS OF HEBREW CAN READ IT'

Earliest known stone carving of Hebrew word ‘Jerusalem’ found near city entrance

While any inscription dating from the Second Temple period is of note, the 2,000-year-old three-line inscription on a waist-high column — reading “Hananiah son of Dodalos of Jerusalem” — is exceptional, as it is the first known stone carving of the word “Yerushalayim,” which is how the Israeli capital’s name is pronounced in Hebrew today.

See, this is where I disagree with Netanyahu that the Torah is Israel’s deed to the land. A stronger deed is the archaeology, the genetic genealogy, and the Canaanite language.

Not mutually exclusive, no, but hard to argue with contemporaneous evidence.

              • ISRAEL STEPS UP MEASURES AGAINST PA ACTIVITIES IN JERUSALEM

Israeli authorities have stepped up their measures against Palestinian Authority officials who are suspected of carrying out political and security activities in east Jerusalem. The measures are aimed at punishing the PA officials for targeting east Jerusalem residents involved in real estate transactions with Israeli Jews.

Last month, the PA security forces arrested Esam Aqel, a US citizen from east Jerusalem, for his alleged role in the sale of an Arab-owned house in the Old City of Jerusalem to an Israeli Jewish organization.

                    ***
US envoy tells PA to free US citizen arrested for selling Old City home to Jews

David Friedman says Issam Akel’s 2-month detention over Jerusalem property deal is ‘antithetical’ to US values and ‘peaceful coexistence’

"The Pal Authority has been holding US citizen Isaam Akel in prison for ~2 months,” Friedman tweeted. “His suspected ‘crime’? Selling land to a Jew. Akel’s incarceration is antithetical to the values of the US & to all who advocate the cause of peaceful coexistence. We demand his immediate release.”
The Jerusalem resident had been sought by the PA over his involvement in the sale of a home in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City to Jews, Hadashot TV news reported at the time.

                        • I wouldn't put too much stock in what Scott Morrison has to say on the matter. He's a dead man walking with elections due mid-next year that he'll probably lose.
