All these "fact checking" things are highly suspicious in general.

Because the information environment is what it is in this digital day and age, there's loads of blatant fakes, exaggerations, intentional and unintentional misunderstandings, unsourced info/rumors/whatever everywhere. To be fair, it's been like this for at the very least a decade and a half.

Now, when somebody dives into that sticky turd with the noble intent of setting things straight, you're quickly faced with an altogether new problem. Namely, are you going to scrutinize everyone with the same vigilance and adherence to the scientific method?

I've seen similar efforts elsewhere rapidly devolve into what pretty much amounts to fakery itself, ironical as it is. Whether it's by being choosy about whom you pick alone or if it's about calling out some for even the tiniest alleged transgression whereas the bar is set way, waaaay higher for others (in accordance with your bias) so that in the long run some people or outlets pretty much seem discredited while others who are objectively speaking guilty of the exact same things somehow aren't. It's potentially quite dangerous.

...But apart from that, splashing money on prostitutes has little to nothing to do with credibility in this particular context. You can be a total douchebag and still excel at what you're supposed to do professionally. I'm just saying that these fact checkers should themselves be heavily scrutinized along the same lines.

Snopes is a pretty sweet resource. Like Wikipedia.

You can't trust everything it says or their conclusions, but they do a pretty good job researching and referencing their sources, so just check yourself (as you would, presumably, do with Wikipedia).

Yup Wiki isn't bad as long as you can check the footnotes and see yourself. Some dismiss is out of hand which itself is asinine
