  • Imho forgot to mention there is also around 1M disabled and "disabled".

There is also some roughly accurate data for actual value of VAT tightening in 2017. After adjusting for seasonal values, goverment creative accounting etc. its estimated at bewen 8 to 17 bilions PLN, propably closer to 11-13b.

Meanwhile in 2018 the VAT payment income is rapidly de-accelerating. For period janurary-april the Vat income increased by 1,1% y/y. Considering inflation this is actualy a negative value.

      MoF published data for May

VAT incomes for period Jan-May rose 2,8% y/y (+10,8% vs May 2017). You have to remember "VAT trick effect" i.e. early VAT returnes in Dec 2016. Gov finally did not repeat it Dec 2017. It means Jan incomes suffered (-16,6% vs Jan 2017). That`s why cumultive VAT rose only 2,8% (70,7 vs 68,7 bln PLN). "VAT trick" is 6 bln so real incomes last year 62,7 bln PLN. Real VAT increase is 11,3%.

Honestly dont care about it enough to bother arguing.

Meanwhile supreme court general assembly formaly "rebeled" informing they do not recognize parts of supreme court reform. Many judges acoss the country have de facto declared loyalty to old chairman of supreme court whose term ends in 2020.

PiS managed to only find 15 candidates for "supreme court" assesors. Totaly not because whole thing smells like good way to end up on trial at least after goverment change.

EU has decided to let european court of justice decide on supreme court reform.

Meanwhile there is intial opinion regardin spanish court refusing to hand drug dealer to Poland on grounds that PiS regime does not guarantee fair trial for its citiznes.

Opinion is unfavorable for PiS but also for our special snowflake. It states that courts have rights to judge wherever or not Poland still has capability to delver fair trial on case to case basis. Ruling will be announced most likely by end of July.

          • PiS ignores its own law 5 min after it went live.

Supreme court reform went live. According to it supreme chairman was forcibly retired because she finished 65 years and did not asked president for allowance to continue her duties.

She did not steped down just nominated her temporary replacement. A judge that replaced her also does not recognize the PiSdiot regime change, finished 65 years and did not asked president for allowance.
PiS has s..t on its own law and let it be. Why? Replacement is known for having conservative rightwing outlook.

As you can see there is totaly no problem with rule of law in Poland.

PiS controlled collectors office resorts to traping to boost tax income.

Recently accounting community is raising alerts that tax controllers are using tax payer traping.

I am not sure what is proper legal term for it in English but its practice where goverment office isues interpretation of law then withdraws from it at citizen expense. (usualy slaping fines etc.) It is common in countries without proper legal safeguards protecting citizens from goverment official power abuse.
In Poland such safeguard is called individual tax interpretation its a formal legaly binding document where goverment states that in case of that single tax payers certain law should be applied in certain way.

In 2009 Polish court has ruled that this interpretation can be canceled if taxpayer has mislead the office during his request.
Once PiS came to power it has fired everyone in tax collectors office and re-employed those it liked.
Then PiS introduced new much harsher fines etc.
Now PiS controlled office is en mass using 2009 ruling to try to deny VAT returns etc. We talk about quotes going in milions before even fines and intrests are applied.
There was even a case recently where collectors office has demanded from taxpayer to pay two mutualy exclusive taxes.
Soo far those atempts end with court rulings that goverment is forced to follow its interpretation of law but since PiS just took control of courts...

IAA Global b..ch slap TVPiS for its attempts to undermine Nielsen audience measurments.

International Advertisers Association Global warned TVPiS that its attempts at black PR towards its member Nielsen are only causing harm to its image and immage of Poland.

Well , most ordinary people in Poland don't really care about it. But, yaeh, I would say that level of interest in politics today in Poland is higher than it was in the past. It's because our current ruling party decided to change the way the state functions in some important areas. Where will it lead us, we'll see.

                      • Soo PiS after ignoring their own law now is novelizing it in express time due to lack of candidates. They want to have full control of supreme court and council of courts before European tribunal of justice has chance to stop them. Problem is that there are very few candidates. While there were some doubts about constitutional tribunal here seem that every semi competent lawyer realizes what will happen after PiS loses power at some point.

Currently to elect a chairman 120 judges are needed. After PiS change only 80 will be required and president just announced wacant spot for 44 judges. Soo PiS wants to be sure that chairman is someone obidient to Nowogrodzka rather than letter of law.

Problem with PiS is that those are not unimportant things. Its a crawling regime change where tri-partition of power is changed towards system where peoples who may not even be elected (Prime minister and his cabinet) can have full control over state.

We have situation where atm. in Poland a politicaly appointed body usurped right to overrule court decisions and nationalizes peoples property. Peoples should be afraid but it was after big corruption scandal soo no one cares. Now the soo caled reprivatisation comission is butthurt that oposition controled city of warsaw is opening cases vs previous owners of properties based on comision decision in courts to protect itself from claims potentialy going in bilions.

We have a prosecutor office that made act of accusation by accident right after PiS took control over supreme court, where they are accusing former goverment vice minister of finances of crimnal neglection of duty for financial gain he could not commit. Its again big scandal related to gambling machines.

Previous politicians were not saints but they knew when to say s...t and throw the towel.

Why do you need two citizenships? One European citizenship should be enough.
