In 83 (IIRC) a PV2 awaiting sentencing @ Mannheim stole an M60A1 tank and rampaged through downtown Mannheim until he drove off a bridge into the Neckar.

He had been court martialed for stealing a 45

I was down the street, literally, when that happened. He knocked out a few power transformers and we lost power to the building. It was a surreal event. Where he got stock on that concrete partition l would drive by on the way to work every day, it was some time (months) before they fixed the broken section.

However, Do it in front or the ranks or worse civilians, you are going for a skate.
I did my Secco’s course about a decade ago when it was mashed up for a bit with Infantry Platoon Commanders.

We were standing in the street of Waiouru early AM getting ready to step off for the field after the lecture room and battleprep stuff of the first few days.

All of the young officers had hit it hard, really hard the night before in their Mess. It would be safe to say many were still intoxicated to varying degrees. Two of them were taking turns vomiting 🤮

There were only 2 ORs on Infantry Platoon Commanders and they were both pretty switched on as they should be .

One of them gathered all the officers together and ripped them all to shreds for their behaviour in front of us ORs, especially when we’re supposed to be serious as a heart attack going into the back blocks to move, shoot, and dig all day, every day.

One Officer attempted to interject and put the Corporal back in his place and was told to shut the fcuk up or he would get smashed right then and there.

        It was pretty awesome.

A short interview without coffee or biscuits.
