  • Consolidated notable/celebrity deaths

With all these baby-boomers rockers, musicians, artists and or politicians aging, I have a feeling we may have a plethora of ''RIP threads'' in the coming years hence this thread.

Today, its George Romero who has passed away.

    http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...716-story.html

Legendary filmmaker George A. Romero, father of the modern movie zombie and creator of the groundbreaking “Night of the Living Dead” franchise, has died at 77.
Romero died Sunday in his sleep after a “brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer,” according to a statement to The Times provided by his longtime producing partner, Peter Grunwald. Romero died while listening to the score of one his favorite films, 1952’s “The Quiet Man,” with his wife, Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero, at his side, the family said.

    RIP

RIP. What a great guy. I remember seeing "Night of the Living dead" back as a child ... normally I just skipped the channel when something was black and white but that one caught me ^^

That's a shame, I really enjoyed his movies.

I had the same idea to make a celebrity deaths thread too, given that Boomers who lived rough in the 70s and 80s will be bumping off at a rapid rate now. Great minds think alike! Although, my mother also said that fools seldom differ, so make of that what you will.

She had a couple of girlfriend roles, in Sgt Bilko and Dick Tracy, where she played the hapless and sweet love interest, although in Sgt Bilko her character her character wasn't as hapless as she seemed. I can't remember Dick Tracy very well, I was more focused on Madonna (I went through a big Madonna phase in my early teens, don't judge me).

I think our daughter went thru a Madonna phase, an Olivia Newton John - John Travolta phase, and a Prince phase.

just saw this about Sam Shepard, died at age 73 of Lou Gehrig's disease complications. He was great (as General Chuck Yeager) in THE RIGHT STUFF in 1983. (if you have never seen it....do so)

                              Rest in Peace sir.

also so was the CO in Black Hawk Down, circa 2001. (remember him mopping up blood on the surgery room floor at the end?)
