Do they have metal detectors and CCTVs in the metros?
    They have CCTV only.

Police are searching for a half-masked “axeman” who rampaged through a Tesco in south London, chasing terrified customers as they fled the store.

Security footage of the incident, shared more than six thousand times on social media, shows around 10 people running away down a corridor before the suspect bursts through a pair of doors, swinging the “axe”.

I'm actually surprised how long it has been since there's been a homicide in London. There's been a shit ton of stabbings, constant shootings, and more than a few critical hospitalizations but very little homicides these past two weeks.

London stabbings: Teenager knifed to death and two others injured in separate attacks

The stabbing spree followed a bloody start to 2019 in the capital.

Two people were knifed to death in the first six hours of the year and last week 17-year-old Nedim Bilgin became the fifth victim of a fatal attack, when he was stabbed just a few hundred metres from his home.

More than 130 people were murdered in London in 2018, a 10-year high.

Children commit half of knife crime, Scotland Yard figures reveal
Children are now responsible for half of all knife crime, Scotland Yard figures reveal.

The police data shows that 41 per cent of knife crime offenders are aged between 15 and 19 while another 8% are younger still, ranging in age from 10 to 14.

The figures were released by the Met’s violent crime task force whose head chief superintendent Ade Adelekan said knife attacks were becoming “more ferocious” as increasingly younger offenders tried to kill or injure victims by “getting up close and stabbing someone several times.”

Police stop people for covering their faces from facial recognition camera then fine man £90 after he protested
A man has been fined after refusing to be scanned by controversial facial recognition cameras being trialled by the Metropolitan Police.

The force had put out a statement saying “anyone who declines to be scanned will not necessarily be viewed as suspicious”. However, witnesses said several people were stopped after covering their faces or pulling up hoods.

Campaign group Big Brother Watch said one man had seen placards warning members of the public that automatic facial recognition cameras were filming them from a parked police van.

            V for Vendetta indeed.

A woman has been stabbed to death by a man who jumped out of a car and attacked her in a residential street just yards from a primary school.

Surrey Police said officers responded to reports of an attack on a woman in London Road near Cheam on Friday afternoon.

England's knife crime epidemic sees 54% rise in young stabbing injuries in 5 years

ondon (CNN)The number of young individuals admitted to hospital with wounds inflicted by knives or sharp objects has soared by more than half in England, according to official figures released by the National Health Service (NHS).

A total of 1,012 people aged between 10 and 19 were admitted to hospital with wounds caused by knives or sharp objects last year, up from 656 hospital admissions in the same period five years earlier, according to NHS England. A total of 103 people aged under 24 were killed by sharp objects in the year ending March 2018, compared to just 58 in 2012/13.

The overall admissions across all age groups for these injuries also rose by close to a third since 2012, from 3,849 to 4,986 last year. Professor Chris Moran, national clinical director for trauma, NHS England, warned that hospital visits linked to knife crime are a "major cause for concern and put extra pressure on our expert staff."

"Violent crime destroys lives, devastates families, and diverts doctors' time away from other essential patient care," he said in a statement. "Far too many young people are able to buy knives on the high street, and we need councils and retailers to work together to stop this."

Gun crime highest for a decade for four police forces
Gun crime in four English counties was at its highest for a decade in 2017-18.

West Yorkshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Cheshire police handled more incidents than in any year since 2007-08.

Overall gun crime in England and Wales is lower than 10 years ago, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

More than one in five victims of firearms offences, excluding air weapons, was aged under 20.

Police believe that firearms crimes in some areas are linked to "county lines", where gangs move drug-dealing operations outside big cities to smaller towns.
The figures, released on Thursday, come alongside statistics showing fatal stabbings at their highest level since records began in 1946.

The ONS analysis for individual police forces covers the year to the end of March 2018 and showed 6,521 firearms offences, a 2% rise and the fourth increase in a row.
