  • London's murder rate surpasses New York's for 1st time ever

LONDON -- A surge of stabbings in London was blamed Monday for the city overtaking New York's monthly murder tally for the first time in modern history. Fifteen people were murdered in London during February, compared to 14 in New York, according to police figures.
The British capital also suffered 22 fatal stabbings and shootings in March, higher than the 21 in New York. There have been 10 fatal stabbings in London in the last 19 days, following on from the 80 fatal stabbings recorded in the city last year.
London's murder rate has grown by nearly 40 percent in three years, while police figures show that New York's has fallen by 87 percent since 1990, raising pressure on London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Metropolitan Police chief Cressida Dick

Now we have to learn to read a bit the stats
It is not a statistical difference
I'd rather read it like NYC criminality has decreased to the level of London's one over the years
Plus LE means (in term of funds and manpower) are clearly not the same between NYC and London for approximatively the same level of fatalities
NYPD budget is around 4 billions $$ (and 35 000 men) + a lot of other federal agencies (including QRTs, forensics etc)
London Metro police budget is around 3 billios $$ and 30 K men if i am not mistaken : 1/4 less
Crimanlity increase is worrysome in London but it is still not Harlem in the 90s if you know what i mean

Men have been killing each other for millenia without guns. How sad for a great city.

Anyone know if it’s possible to separate out the gang-related vs. non-gang related crime in these stats?

Don’t care one bit if retard gang-bangers off each other. Would be more interested if unprovoked violent crimes are on the rise in London (associated with robberies, etc).

          Found this:

London gang crime: 11 young men have been stabbed to death in the capital in 2018 - and it's only March. All those who died are men under 25
          https://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/news...young-14369977

Londoners are being urged to help police tackle gang violence in the capital following a "tragic" number of deaths among young people in the city.

The left's answer to this is "because austerity"... Right, government cuts have reduced the number of officers available, yet somehow there are enough to investigate offensive tweets, and naughty YouTube videos... It's almost like the mayor is more interested in policing the internet and virtual signalling than tackling actual crime...

Thank fuck I don't live in London.

Shall we expect a "this is part and parcel f living in a big city"?

What happened to Khan's "London is the safest city in the world"?

You left off the full quote. "London is the safest city in the world not counting all of the cities in the world safer than London".

You can't carry a lock blade or anything longer than 75mm. How is this possible.

I know right, it's as if criminals don't follow the law, or something...

What is it with people pulling that one line out?

What Khan said was "Part and parcel of living in a great global city is you’ve got to be prepared for these things, you’ve got to be vigilant, you’ve got to support the police doing an incredibly hard job. We must never accept terrorists being successful, we must never accept that terrorists can destroy our life or destroy the way we lead our lives."

                            What's wrong with that?
