And as I recall, no efforts were made to black out cities like NYC which were fully ablaze with lights, nicely silhouetting target ships for the U-boat captains, in spite of warnings from British intelligence that U-boats were on the way to the US.

Got to remember, the US Navy had no authority to order a blackout, the civil authorities had to be convinced

They weren't. Despite coastal guard encounter the first group consisting of four men successfully reached New York City. They were latter betrayed by their leader. As a matter of fact it took him a lot of effort to convince FBI that he was a real sabateur.

Another group of four landed in Florida and have successfully reached Cincinatti. Their mission failed because of the first group betrayal.

Interesting, we may also add that Herr Goering wanted to bomb/blitz NY at some point, but his Luftwaffe obviously never made it.

and uhhh......2nd place in WW2, doesn't cut the mustard. But yeah....the Germans had great plans, good technology, good scientists, brave soliders and airmen.....just not the right combination of situational awareness. (one doesn't just massively invade Russia, especially in winter, nor does one kick sand in the face of the US without understanding the industrial power, and might of an angry US population)

They were operating as far down as the Brazilian coast actually and also in the Pacific Ocean (see "Monsun Gruppe").

Herr Meyer wanted much but achieved not even half. That the Luftwaffe never bombed NY has a simple reason. They didn't had any aircrafts able to make it that far. That's why they came up with the pipedream of the so called "Amerikabomber".

Yeah, Herr Meyer as Goebbels called him suffered from serious delusion of grandeurs. Talking about jewels and painting while the German Army was suffering heavy losses after 1942. His ego was one of his numerous flaw.

Germans had Amerika-bomber project. Me 262 never went into series production though. They were probably waiting for nuclear project to be complete. You can add to this Amerika-rakete project - A9/A10 missiles.

Oh Really? Reference to this plane has nothing to do with the subject "Nazi attacks On America." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Me_26
