On the contrary, western policy has been extremely successful (in a self-defeating kind of way): spreading sunni facism around the globe has been an extremely fruitful endeavor and empowering them in Syria almost worked

I heard there's been limited airstrikes today, but I suspect the big fireworks will come after the weekend.

Interesting piece in the Wall Street Journal:

              • more taf reinforcements (rocket launcher / artillery, mechanized infantry and commando units) towards al bab / manbij.

dont exactly know which level of defense alert this is but it is a defense alert.. no surprise, after all those unpredictable evolvements in recent time.

Not so sure, probably more sending a message to Russia that Iran is not welcome in Syria.

How has Israel realistically benefitted from the Civil War, or Al-Nusra's existence in Syria in general?

Israel once had one devil to worry about in Syria, now they have several (AQ being just one). Israel is far weaker than before the Civil War/AQ/ISIS being on their border, I don't understand any argument claiming Israel supports AQ/daesh/etc.. Because it makes no practical sense.

But with no other enclaves remaining, the government has massed its forces in recent weeks for a campaign to retake the province, which is dominated by hard-line Islamist groups, including an estimated 10,000 Al Qaeda affiliated local and foreign jihadis, and others factions under Turkey’s control.

If Israel is able to break of Syria into little fiefdoms run by emirs then the Golan basically becomes defacto Israeli territory

                            And to that end.....

The Golan is already de facto Israeli territory, and has been since 1967.

                              • it looks like the sdf region is taking big steps towards an enforced isolation according to the latest news, i personally cant foresee a bright future..

in addition to that, there are some reports of killed / assassinated vip´s including the death of the head of ypg military intelligence and one of the founders of sdf manbij council.
