        • Our contribution to eFP has arrived in Estonia. The operational fighting units(in CV9035 and M113G4) was transported by HDMS Esbern Snare. The logistic trucks and such, was transported by one of the vessels from Ark project. The contribution is approx 200 soldiers. They'll be under command of a British Battalion Battlegroup.

          • The 2018 to 2023 defense agreement was made official yesterday.
            http://www.fmn.dk/temaer/forsvarsfor...-2018-2023.pdf

The changes to the army is great in my opinion. We'll get this 4000 men combined arms brigade. It will have 3 combat battalions. Each with 1 tank company, 1 armoured infantry company, 1 mechanized infantry company plus a reserve mechanized infantry company. That means we're gonna get 50 upgraded Leopard 2's(A7V'ish). The artillery will get another SPH battery. The Recce battalion will get 3 full Recce squadrons. An air defense unit will be establised(under the artillery regiment) plus a new Anti Tank capacity. An old infantry Regiment(Slesviske Fodregiment) in southern Jutland(Haderslev), will be activated again and will get a whole new 500 men strong, light infantry battalion, that can deploy by air and sea.

I'll update when I've read it all plus some other stuff.. several interesting things, like the Special Operations Command will grow by 50%(to 100% later on!)

            • Just the most important news about the Airforce and Navy.

The Airforce is all about implementing F35. But seems like they are also gonna be operating drones to support the army. There also be build 3 new units. A Special Air Operations Centre, a Special Operations Air Task Group and Air Support Wing. There also be more personel to fly and maintain our C130's, so the amount of flying hours can be increased by 20%.

The Navy's 3 frigates will be getting SM2 and SM6 missiles. Also Variable Depth Sonars and anti torpedos systems. The Seahawks will be getting dipping sonars and torpedos.
A study group will research the possibilty of equiping the frigates with 'Strike Missiles'.. a la Tomahawk.

Does that mean more CESAR 8x8 than the previous announced 15 plus 6 options,or simply that the 6 optional ones will definately bought?
What about more details on AT weapons, possible 30mm canons for the Piranha an detailed structure of the army? Any hints in the defence agreement when those changes will be specified?
                Thanks in advance.

Things will be specified when the army tells how they wanna do it.. more or less. They've of course been on it for a while now. Regarding the howitzers(and heavy mortars).. yes, I think it's just the options being put to effect. Nothing on SAM or AT systems. Other than the AT capacity will be on battalion level.

We'll have 2 brigades.. 1st brigade being the new 'hot' one.. and 2nd being mostly and training/reserve type one.
                  But.. time will tell soon.

                  • Regarding 30mm on Piranha 5.. might happen but not as you'll think. Denmark has sticked the .50cal M2s on its mechanized vehicles when many have an combination of .50cal and 40mm grenade launchers. But our army have tested 40mm GLs for several years and in many different scenarios and it doesn't seem to fit our tactics.. due to the flytime. But.. it seems the M230LF is the golden solution, that can be mounted on our current RWSs.. Bofors Lemur. It's been tested a lot..

                              • Sound pretty good.
Seems like a second batch of each Leopard and CV90 needs to be ordered, though.
Hopefully they get enough for not only equipping the actual companies but also for training and maintenance reserve.

Any news about the composition of the 2. Brigade?
