        • Su-35 number boosted to 78. IMO they would need at least 150 Su-35. Su-57 replaces Su-27 and complements Su-35.

                • Here is part of my colleague Saulius RIA collection. Most of these items there found either in Lithuania or Latvia and belonged to ethnic Lithuanians or Latvians that served in Russian Imperial Army. I assisted in finding some of these artifacts. Owner gave me permission to share these photos here. Hope you'll like this small piece of history.

                      • As always each year, Russian MoD releases calendar with rather nice photos and silly jokes/tongue-in-cheek comments accompanying them. Daily Fail goes nuts:
                        https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-missiles.html

It's a warning, it's chilling, it's obviously Putin's own machination at work (he probably wrote the jokes too) etc. And of course, it's all directed towards the UK, because there is a silly remark on the old military rank cornet and the Russian ATGM Kornet.

                        Daily Fail writes:
Here the joke is aimed at the British - cornet used to be the third and lowest grade of commissioned officer in the British cavalry.
...This is an impressive double-fail, actually. The Russian 9K135 "Kornet" is named after the brass instrument cornet, in line with one of its predecessors 9K111 Fagot ("bassoon" in Russian and many other languages), first of all.

This is typical Russian practice, take for example the usually flower-themed artillery guns (Pion/Peony, Giatsint/Hyacinth, Gvozdika/Carnation, Akatsiya/Acacia), or the weather-themed rocket launchers (Hurricane, Tornado, Whirlwind), or the mineral-themed anti-ship missiles (Amethyst, Basalt, Granite, Onyx etc). There are tons of exceptions in each "series", but the theming is too common to ignore.

Second, the military rank "cornet" existed in Russia too, prior to the revolution. And in many other countries.

Oh well, funny article at any rate.

                        • Daily fail cannot even into proper translation, not "x-mas toys" but new year's eve ones for december, and july is an underground missile silo lid not a tank roof.
