A sentence or two max gentlemen. Click the link to read the article. We don't want to host content or pinch page views from people who are doing this for a living.

Worst part of the F-35 program is that the F-35 was supposed to be a cheaper alternative to the costly F-22. Kinda like the F-16 was a cheaper alternative to the F-15. Well the F-35 has failed so far as a cheaper alternative. The F-35 may still be a great fighter, but they gotta do a better job working out the bugs and problems.

um, The F-35 can be bought at a 2:1 ratio vs the F-22 and still does more missions, has a LRST/FLIR, has an HMDS, can carry a 2k bomb, etc.

Yes it is CHEAPER and fills more rolls than the F-22. Where it fails at is that it was supposed to be much cheaper than its ended up being.

Was it over budget, yes, but it's still a much cheaper and more functional alternative to the F-22.

The way you phrased it "the F-35 has failed so far as a cheaper alternative" mad it sound like you were claiming that it was now more expensive than the F-22.

I am not an aviator, and have very limited experience with aircraft, specialising in land based systems.
However, in hearing from others that know somewhat more about aircraft than me,, they are of the opinion, that the F35 is a lemon.
It tries to do too many things,, and has to compromise in some roles to be able to partially accomplish other roles,, which results in the F35 not excelling in any one role

You can say the same thing ("not excelling at any one role") about any multirole fighter developed over the last 50 years yet the powers that be and the users of those systems continue to push for them.
