Israeli paratroopers train over Germany, Poland in US-led exercise

Officers note 'moving' symbolism of Jewish soldiers operating in Polish territory, where Nazi death camps once stood

        ...

Puri noted that it had been 74 years since Jewish paratroopers from pre-Israel Palestine, including, famously, Hannah Szenes, jumped into Europe on behalf of the British Army to help rescue Hungarian Jews from the Nazis.

        ...

Maj. Yotam Ruf, who led the exercise itself, also noted the symbolism of the jump by Israeli paratroopers into Poland, where millions of Jews were killed in the Holocaust.

I mean, it certainly looks less ragtag-like than the current uniforms, but how does it actually look in the field?

Well, it drags the IDF combat uniform design from the 1940s to the dizzy heights of the 1960s I suppose.... Still, the cut of the uniform isn't fit for the modern battlefield with its superfluous pockets etc. Also the camouflage pattern doesn't have a mixture of micro and macro patterns. It's going to blob out at a distance of a few yards. Not impressed to be honest.

And like a lot of other military's newer uniforms, it will keep the produces of velcro in business and the patch and badge collectors happy.

The tank, one of Israel’s most sophisticated military platforms manufactured domestically, crossed the border between Israel and Jordan in recent weeks aboard a flatbed truck.
In a sign of growing defense and diplomatic ties between Jerusalem and Amman, Israel recently transferred an IDF Merkava tank to Jordan.

The tank will be placed on exhibit at the Royal Tank Museum, established by King Abdullah in 2007 to preserve tanks and armored vehicles used by the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) as well as to showcase other important tanks, like the Merkava, from around the world.

                            • New Israeli-made Merkava Mk4 Barak tank used in guerrilla warfare

Israeli Army has unveiled details about the development and the design of new version of the local-made main battle tank Merkava under the name of Merkava Mk 4 Barak that will be used in guerrilla warfare conditions. The Merkava Mk 4 Barak will be the first tank to have a smart mission computer that will manage the tanks’ tasks. This advanced artificial intelligence will reduce the team members’ workload and help them more accurately locate and strike targets.

At a recent amnesty program held by the Israeli Defense Forces, a first model Dror in .303 British turned up along with a number of other small arms that had been surrendered as part of a drive to return historical small arms from IDF veterans or otherwise. In this particular case, the Dror that was handed in is of special importance because of how rare it is.
