  • The 131st ("Knights of the Yellow Bird") Squadron is undergoing a unique modification process with its "Karnaf" (Hercules C-130) aircraft. As part of the "Karnaf" modification project, the aircraft's lifespan is due to be extended by at least ten years. "The IDF and the IAF will be able to use the 'Karnaf' aircraft for many more years with the addition of new operational capabilities adjusted according to the dynamic theatre", said Lt. Col. A', Squadron Commander.

Re nuclear capability, it seems that Israel had the capacity to assemble a single nuclear device by June 1967. However, strictly speaking, it was not a fully fledged bomb, as it could not be dropped by an aircraft, but required assembly on the ground prior to being exploded as a demonstration and warning.
The New York Times ran a story last year about it: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/03/w...r-warning.html

Even worse on a warmish rainy day. You can't tell if you're hot, cold, sweating, wet, or just dying in general.

It can take less than an hour (depending on what you do and the temperature) for the sweat to accumulate inside the mask to the point it start reaching your mouth. Basically, if you don't evacuate it, you can drown in your own sweat. A problem, BTW, which didn't exist in the old school face-sealed gas masks. In those new ones, which envelop the whole head, they also collect the sweat coming from your whole head... a minor design flaw.

              • THE ISRAELI AIR FORCE ACE WHO ALMOST DIDN’T MAKE IT

He was the soldier who at first failed to qualify to be a pilot in the IAF, but who ended his 30-year career in the IAF as one of the top aces.

The establishment of a nuclear triad demonstrates how seriously Israel takes the idea of nuclear deterrence.

                    • Although the F-35 saw its first combat duty this week in Israel, the Jewish state has reportedly decided to purchase more of the most advanced version of Boeing’s F-15 rather than buy more Joint Strike Fighters.

On May 16, Flight Global—an aviation-focused news source—reported that Israel is proposing a deal to purchase twenty-five F-15Is in an advanced configuration. This would double the number of F-15Is the Israeli Air Force (IAF) currently operates. As part of the proposed nearly $4 billion deal, Boeing would also modernize Israel’s existing twenty-five F-15Is to bring them up to the same level as the new ones.

I assume they will all be brought to F-15 2040C standard. Not sure it is foregoing the F-35, as they are fulfilling two different roles. Eventually all of Israel's F-16s will be replaced with F-35s, and all F-15s will be brought to 2040C standards.

Yeah. I read these articles noting the F15 and F35 as complementary, not competing, platforms.
