busted to private, dishonorable discharge and a fine of some type I think. But zero prison time? The army has changed me thinks.

          Trump not happy
The sentence ends an eight-year drama that began in 2009 in Afghanistan. He is dishonorably discharged from the Army, has his rank reduced and must forfeit some pay.

BTDTs...... What's your take? I have not served, so I'm hesitant to give my opinion. Frankly, I'm surprised he did not get some prison time though.

I’ve seen guys get reduced in rank to e-1 and get Bad Conduct Discharges (not as serious as a Dishonorable, but close) for stealing some sun glasses and other miscellaneous small gear. Now that’s not condoning larceny but clearly some branches and convening authorities come down on wrong doing differently.

Should have been given the Maximum Penalty, plea or not

Look at this Master Sergeant wounded in the search for Bergdahl=

No prison!? Well, then, no accountability...

                    https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-...o-prison-time/

WASHINGTON — A senior U.S. military commander is endorsing the decision to spare Army Pvt. Bowe Bergdahl prison time for abandoning his post in Afghanistan, endangering military comrades who participated in the lengthy search for him.

Army Gen. Robert Abrams, head of U.S. Army Forces Command, approved the court-martial sentencing handed down last November. Bergdahl was reduced in rank from sergeant to private and ordered to forfeit $1,000 a month in pay for 10 months. The judge also gave him a dishonorable discharge.
